About Dacia Pick-up

The Romanian carmaker Dacia had a difficult job to replace the older Dacia Pick-up range, but it finally succeeded in 2007 with the introduction of a Logan based utility vehicle.

Dacia started its journey as a brand after an agreement between the Romanian communist government and Renault to produce the Renault 8 and, later on, the Renault 12 under license. The Romanian engineers managed to build a light utility vehicle with the same powertrain, but on a ladder-chassis. That car was able to carry up to 800 kg (1763 lbs). The 2007 Logan pick-up was a different story.

Logan 1 was a big commercial success, and the new Renault management had the difficult task of replacing a successful commercial vehicle with something modern. The 2007 Logan Pick-up featured the same front part of a Logan, but with a ladder-chassis in the back and an open bed. The base model featured black bumpers, and the car was offered in two standard colors: navy-blue or white. The windshield and the front doors were carried over from the regular Logan range.

Inside, the car featured a hard-plastic dashboard and a basic instrument cluster with a small LCD between the speedometer and tachometer. The base version was fitted with a driver's airbag. On the options list, Dacia offered air-conditioning, power windows and locks, and a CD-stereo.

Power came from a standard 1.4-liter gasoline engine, while the top version was fitted with a very fuel-efficient 1.5-liter turbodiesel that provided 85 hp. The only available gearbox was a 5-speed manual.
