About Fiat Qubo

The 2008 Fiorino Qubo was developed over the Fiat Grande Punto platform. It was developed as a light utility vehicle, fit for the narrow streets of historic cities, but it was built as an MPV as well.

The Italians needed tiny vehicles in their old cities. Vehicles such as the Fiat 500 or 600 Multipla (the original ones) were built for such situations. Small vehicles were built in France as well. So, Peugeot-Citroen rallied with Fiat and built three small urban MPV vehicles. They were light, with small engines, and able to carry at least four passengers. They were very fuel-efficient in cities due to their small engines.

Designing a cube is easy, but to make it look attractive it is a different story. Still, the Italian designers were able to create a small vehicle, with a very short hood and a tall cabin. The front had to feature a longer bumper to pass the safety regulations. On the sides, the rear sliding doors provided easy access to the bench seat in the back.

Inside, the car featured five seats. The front passenger's seat could have been folded to allow loading of objects of up to 2.5 meter (98”) long. A low mounted dashboard allowed a better forward view for the driver. On the center stack, the Qubo was available with a Blue&Me infotainment unit.

For the engine compartment, Fiorino Qubo was available wit small diesel and gasoline engines mated to a standard 5-speed manual. A six-speed robotized transmission was available for the 1.3-liter turbodiesel engine.
