About Nissan Almera Tino

Nissan had an important success with the Almera lineup and considered creating a minivan on the same platform, the Almera Tino.

While the minivans were still appreciated worldwide, Nissan thought that offering one based on the same platform as its successful Almera might be a good idea. And it worked. Moreover, the MPV was not only spacious and practical but also well-engineered. Its only drawback was the design.

With its bubble-like shape, the Almera Tino tried to offer a friendly look to its customers. Its front fascia featured the same pair of leaves as on the rest of the Almera range. Yet, the headlights were different, being taller and sporting the turn signals at their lower side. On the lower grille, Nissan's design team carefully made the lower air intake with a horizontal slat that offered a neutral sight, far from any aggressive shape. Moreover, the profile revealed a tall greenhouse with an ascending beltline and a raked-forward D-pillar behind a third-side window.

The interior provided plenty of room for five adult passengers, with two seats at the front and a bench in the rear. Nissan offered an option for a narrow seat placed between the front seats, thus creating a sort of a bench-seat, but with an individual adjusting position for the driver. Inside the instrument cluster, the speedometer took center stage. It was colored differently than the rest of the dials and gauges that flanked it.

Sporting an independent suspension in all corners, the Almera Tino managed to be very comfortable for the occupants. Under the hood, Nissan installed a choice of three engines ranging between 113 and 134 hp (114-136 PS).
