About Peugeot 1007
Sometimes, a car-manufacturer had to admit that its idea of a car might not be the same as what the market thinks of a car. The 2007 Peugeot 1007 was just an example.
In theory, every potential customer that looks for a city vehicle wants comfort, roomy interior, low fuel consumption, and storage spaces. Peugeot had the idea to built the 1007, a roomy car with good fuel-efficiency and four seats inside. While the rear didn't offer too much legroom, the high greenhouse offered enough headroom. Also, the sliding doors allowed unrestricted access inside the vehicle and no drama when opening them into a crowded parking lot. The car was launched in 2005 and suffered minor changes for the 2007 model-year when a small facelift was applied in the hope to boost sales.
The high vehicle, compared to its short length, made the car look unusual for its supermini category. Its almost equal height and width sizes made the car look square from the front and its angled, Peugeot 206-style headlights didn't help enough. The flat, vertical, back helped when was about loading and unloading, but not when opening and closing the liftgate.
Inside the vehicle, there was room for four and the car featured standard air-conditioning and radio-CD sound system from the base trim level. A seven-airbag system was also standard, which helped the car obtain a five-star rating in the EuroNCAP testing.
There was not a wide range of engine options and the semi-automatic gearbox was not very common for the car. The slow sales, especially when the world economic crisis started, led to the decision to stop production after only 5 years in production.
